PREOBRAZENJE MONASTERY (dedicated to the Transfiguration of Christ)

The old Preobraženje Monastery was situated on the left bank of the Morava, mentioned first in 1525. It was pulled down in 1911 due to railroad construction. The today's Preobraženje Monastery was built in 1938 and is situated on the right bank of the Zapadna Morava. According to the blessing of Bishop saint Nikolaj Velimirović, the life of the monastery hes been organized following the rules of the Holy Mountain of Athos, meaning its having neither property nor parish, but a solely missionary role. Patron St. Day is the Transfiguration of Christ in August, 19th.
