SRETENJE MONASTERY (The Purification of the Virgin Mary)

Situated on a plateau beneath the peak of Mount Ovčar at the water-spring of Koronjski brook. The first written records about the monastery was preserved in a hand-written Gospel from 1571. The frescoes were painted in 1844, at the time of Užički Bishop Nićifor Maksimović and prince aleksandar Karađorđević. Patron St.Day is The Purification, February,15th.
